By the end of 2003, the closure of Levi's last U.S. factory in San Antonio ended 150 years of jeans made in the United States. Production of a few higher-end, more expensive styles of jeans resumed in the U.S. several years later.
Plenty of companies with rich history have sold out with no intention of keeping die-hard, loyal fans satisfied. For the consumers that demand the best, Levi's still performs with the best, making products out of premium USA and Japanese fabrics that are assembled in the USA.
In the outsourcing era, all Levi's jeans are stitched outside America with one exception: a single line of jeans produced at a factory called “White Oak” in Greensboro, NC. The mill is staffed by old hands who've narrowly survived the American garment manufacturing industry's collapse.
